Gowlland Tod: Elbow Point Loop

This trail begins as the well-signed nearly double-wide route passing over Holmes Peak to Jocelyn Hill. One minute after the large "lunch spot" boulder at the top of Jocelyn Hill, fork LEFT down an unnamed unofficial trail. The route now becomes one of route finding. Previously called Rabbity, it has allegedly been officially closed but is still transversible. Take your trail sense with you and go at YOUR OWN RISK. Obvious signs of trail use can be visible at points, but it's often a treasure hunt for the next flag (June 2018). We HIGHLY recommend taking our GPS log on your smart phone.
Halfway down the descent, ignore the first fork to the left as it doesn't go anywhere. A few meters later, take the trail with the old wooden sign denoting 'Elbow Point.' One reaching the bottom of the hill near the ocean, turn LEFT and follow the trail all the way back hugging the coastline until reaching the parking lot. This route along the coastline is INCREDIBLY challenging. Not only for the difficulty following the trail, but the constant up and down over technical sections laced with boulders and tree roots.
